Sia’s Story

Sia was found as a stray and had been roaming the streets for months. Her wounds indicated she had a long history of being attacked by dogs repeatedly and her condition was overall severe. Making matters worse, Sia was pregnant. After weeks of extensive care, Sia delivered 13 puppies in her foster home. After delivery, Sia became incredibly ill and it was found that she was retaining placenta. A few weeks later, Sia developed severe mastitis, which was complicated by the scar tissue in her milk ducts from having SO many puppies previously.

We nearly lost Sia. She was hospitalized for days while her babies adjusted to a formula routine in foster care. After yet ANOTHER miracle, Sia survived! Today, Sia and her puppies are living their very best lives in their forever homes.

Our mission at The Rescue Project is to help abandoned, neglected, and needy animals in the Kansas City Metro and surrounding areas. We raise awareness through community education programs and provide resources for veterinary services.
